At Digital Farming Somalia (DFS), research is not just an activity, it is the backbone of our work. We believe that lasting change in Somali agriculture must be built on local evidence, farmer experiences, and data-driven insights. Our research looks at how digital tools such as mobile agriculture, IoT, AI, drones, and blockchain can be adapted to the realities of Somali farmers. These farmers often face challenges like climate shocks, water scarcity, limited access to markets, and weak infrastructure. Through field studies, digital surveys, and pilot projects, we capture the real obstacles that farmers encounter when adopting new technologies. We also test practical solutions that can help improve productivity, resilience, and income.
With the knowledge we generate, DFS works to:
